#PrayForKelud

Senin, 17 Februari 2014

It was Thursday night February 13, 2014. I was sitting in front of my laptop when suddenly heard a deafening roar. I jumped from my seat. Large vehicles passing by on the street front of the house does not normally sound like that. I thought there was an earthquake because the glass window near me vibrate.

Not long after, I turned off the laptop and get ready for bed. Deafening roar came again, this time more pronounced resonance. My mother who had slept until awakened. We panic, strong vibrating window again as if the house will collapse. When looking towards the east, Lawu not visible. Though usually flickering lights around Lawu looks beautiful from our house. Then we looked up. Full moon was clearly visible, now lost somewhere. Long rumbling sounds painful. We feel there will be a disaster, but don't know what it is.

We can only pray that a disaster doesn't occur. Seeing dark black clouds but no rain fell, I text my uncle whose home on the east. He said Kelud erupted. It was raining pebbles in a radius of 30 KM to the west. Though the distance we place about 177 KM to Kediri and we could still hear the roar. It was very amazing and frightening.

The next morning I woke up lazy. My mother said it was dark but it was already wore. Volcanic ash blanketed our place. Schools and offices were closed suddenly. Expanse of dust makes our city like a ghost town.

At around 9 am, there was a big wind that brings dust flying, make a day of it being dark and scary. We fear there will be rumblings and eruptions again. But there was the rain that fell after the volcanic ash pile and reduce dust in the air. Our main activity of the day was clean up volcanic ash that sticks where. We sweep and mop relentless.

The day after it wasn't as horrible as February 14. Although Lawu still not visible from the house, but the dust is not as thick as the previous day. The rain that fell little by little have reduced our burden. Indeed, there is a big wind that brings dust again, but it is a sign of rain fell. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts our area will be hit by strong winds and heavy rain for the next two days.

Yes, we do need the rain to clean up volcanic ash that sticks everywhere. I can't imagine how the state near Kelud there if here just like this. From the information I got on the internet, Kelud volcanic ash even wind up in the Indian Ocean west of Sumatra island. Subhanallah.

We can't go against the will of nature and God. All we can do now is pray that no more disasters and circumstances immediately improved. We must not become discouraged and must continue to be vigilant. Indonesia was created with a lot of natural resources and their advantages and disadvantages.

Keep spirit my friends! #PrayForKelud #PrayForIndonesia

P.S. The photos were taken on February 14, in the morning before the rain fell. Real without any camera effect.
